I'm baaaaaack! - jaci
First, thanks Nurse Bossy Bessy for all your attention and love bestowed upon Erica in my stead! Secondly, if you would like to call Erin $maker, be sure to do so within the next twelve hours since she arrives in Boston tonight. And my third shout-out is to our cousin, Robby & his wife Emi: CONGRATULATIONS on the pregnancy! We look forward to spoiling him or her. :)
As far as Erica goes, the last four days has been a blur of morphine and headaches. Her teeth ache as well as the hair on her head--similar to when one's hair has been up in a tight pony tail. Her stomach aches have completely subsided and thanks to the drugs, she sleeps the day away.
The Fletcher School has an annual Faculty-Waits-On-You Dinner which includes an auction. This year all the proceeds are going to the Boston chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Erica. I have been invited to attend so I will happily report on the evening's festivities in the next blog!
Finally, thank you to everyone who has sent care packages. You know who you are and Erica is deeply touched!! Not to mention, our tummies are happy and full. :)

Lt. Leslie Edwards has written a walking cadence in honor of Erica's stay here at Brighams & Womens to the tune of a traditional army song:

On top her head she wore a freezing ice pack,
She wore it in the morning and the rest of the day.
And if you ask her why the heck she wore it,
She wore for those headaches that would not go away!

In her arm, she has an IV line,
She has it in morning and the rest of the day,
And if you ask her why the heck she has it,
She has it for the cocktails that take her pain away!

Behind her door, she has a pump to sanitize,
She has it for the germs that dance around all day,
And if you ask her why the heck she has it,
She has it for her peeps to take the germs away!

Please note that Erica now EAGERLY anticipates a (PG!) rugby song from Jamie, Marie, and/or Chris! :) Jump on it!!!

Hey Sweetie,
See I knew you would look beautiful with short hair, I love it!!!
I have already started writing the rugby song. Marie and Chris I will send it to you for your input. Can't promise that that it will be PG, probably more like PG-13 ;)
See you tomorrow sweetie. I get in around 3:00.

Love you!

I love that hair! It's way hotter on you than it was on Natalie Portman. Is it bad to say "hot" now (because of Paris Hilton)? On that note, I have another Star magazine to send you. Admit it, you can't wait.

Whoo hooo!! AWESOME haircut!! So awesome in fact, that I didn't even notice until I looked a second time to be sure! (Or perhaps old age is finally getting the best of me) Beyoootiful!!

Jen (who I am ashamed to admit, must be senile because she couldn't remember her other two usernames/passwords and had to register AGAIN for a whopping 3rd time! - ugh!)

I don't know where to begin..My prayers are with you for sure. The guys (Nick, Nicky, Brian..etc) sent an e-mail with this site the other morning. I am sorry I didn't know sooner. This site is great. It takes me back seeing names like Schatzi Steins and Becky Taylor. The good ol' St. Lou Crew days. I just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts. I gotta go because my son is throwing a fit because I won't let him play with the keyboard! You stay strong as I know you will!

I am so sorry and shocked to hear of your condition, but it sounds like you are recieving excellent care and that you have so many visitors to keep you company. I know it has been a long time since we have seen eachother (I was trying to remember, I think it was our Senior Trip/Cruise), but you seem like you haven't changed a bit. I am thinking of you and praying for you!

hey girl. first of all, i must say that i am terribly impressed by the level of cuteness of you in all the pictures. when i was in the hospital years back (for nowhere near as long or as intimidating a reason) i had zero pictures in which i didn't look like a zombie. secondly, i'd like to take a moment to praise jaci on being an amazing sister. i'm sure you've heard it already, but it never hurts to give a hollah to those selfless folks who are there in times of need. thirdly, i will be sending a care package from hawaii this afternoon, so start watching. and finally, i am thinking about you constantly and sending all the good energy I have to your well-being.

Hi Erica,

I thought you might like an Oxy update now Jamie is no longer here to give you all the news! I'm working late tonight because Da Getaway starts in a few hours. The gaming tables are up, the chocolate fountain is ready to go, all we need now are the gangsters & flapper girls! Memories . . .

I took Rachael & James to see the Oxy men's basketball team beat Claremont Mudd Scripps in the 1st round of the NCAA championships on Thursday. It was VERY exciting. The Oxy fans had 3/4s of the stands. My ears were still ringing when I got home. James 7 & Rachael 9 are playing basketball for the first time this year so they LOVED seeing the big boys play :-). The team is playing in Tacoma Washington tonight against Puget Sound so hopefully they will do well.

The trustees are going to announce their selection for the new president on Tuesday. Kenyon has been an absolute delight & I for one will be sad to see him step down. Oh well, onward & upward!

Have you heard orange is the new pink & is all the rage? We'll finally look fashionable in our orange & black rather than looking like left over halloween decorations :-). Having said that, you look gorgeous in anything & carried the halloween look with ease & grace.

Keep your chin up love!

God bless you,

Hi Erica,

Just wanted to send my well wishes...I sat next to you in creative writing and saw you again at Bess' several months ago. I thought you were a good writer in that class and still think so now. Just so you know, there are some people who don't know you that well, but are pulling real hard for you. Glad to hear there is a lot of love and support surrounding you. Get well.

hi erica,

You still look amazing with the short hair ... hope you are doing well there, is it still ok to send stuff to the hospital address or should I send cards etc to another address?

Hi Erica,

Just wanted to let you know that I made it home safely, but I can't tell you how hard it was for me to leave you last night. It was so great to spend this week with you and of course Jaci, your mom and all your friends who came around while I was there. I am so thankful that you have such an awesome staff of nurses and doctors working hard to get you better. I know the last few days haven't been great for you, but I hope you are much better today and are starting to count down the days until you are released from the hospital. I can't wait to see you again, hopefully in a few weeks. I will have you know that I finished my flashcards and did all my "homework" for today according to my study guide from Drill Sgt. Murray. THANK YOU so much for inspiring me to study for the GRE, I hope I will do well enough to apply for grad school in Boston! I love you so much and am glad that I got to see are so beautiful and full of life. Thanks for taking that punch defending my honor, you should reallym see the other guy! Love you sweetie.
