Two Requests

#1. See the movie Iron Jawed Angels. It's inspirational! And, if you watch it while thinking of those held in Guantanamo prisons without charges TODAY, it's galvanizing.

#2. Do you live in the Boston area? Are you free this Wednesday afternoon? Are you able to handle a big needle going into your friend's spine? If you answered yes to all of these questions, have I got a job for you! Ok, in all seriousness, I am wondering if anyone would like to come with me to the hospital this week. Jaci's new job precludes her ability to come to this spinal tap/lumbar puncture. I know, I sound like a big baby and I can definitely do this by myself, but a hand to hold and someone to distract me would be an immense help!

Hi love,

Your pictures of Galiano island are breathtaking, and i really want to go there with you sometime. Your "recipe" is adorable...the do not pre-wash hippies comment reminded me of Rosana LOL! I wish so much that I could come to Boston and hold your hand on Wednesday :o( but alas the tax season has swept away my disposable income! I love you very much and have no doubt that another one of your countless lovees will jump at the chance. xoxoxo

If I didn't have class ALL DAY on Wednesday, I would be up there holding your hand in a heartbeat.

And you don't sound like a big baby!

if i were in boston, i'd come hold your hand and distract you. it'd be a good excuse to meet you since i've become a faithful blog stalker. :) you do not sound like a baby though. and i bet you find someone to keep you company...probably even someone you actually know!

Hi Erica,

You don't know me, but I've been reading your blog every now and then since the Fall of 2006. I found your website while I was in Seattle helping my mom go through a bone marrow transplant. (She had ALL as well). I actually live in Cambridge, MA with my daughter and husband, but we went out west for 6 months to help out.

I read your blogs every few weeks, but haven't read them all. I admire your courage, and I find your notes funny, thoughtful, extremely well written and just plain real.

I hope this message gets to you. This is the first blog I've ever done, and I'm not sure if you can get in contact with me... but if I can help you out in any way please let me know. After reading "two requests" I thought I could lend you a hand to hold at a future spinal tap, even though I hate needles and almost fainted while the nurse was explaining how to clean my mom's hickman port after she had it put into her chest. No blood or needles shown, but it still made me woozy.

Then I thought, geez, you don't even know me and who would want a fainter with her while getting a lumbar puncture? =)

I wish you all the best, and in all seriousness, if you can email me and you need something, you are very welcome to get in contact with me - even just to talk.
